Prof. Dr. med. Michael J. Strobel

Prof. Dr. Michael J. Strobel has established the sporthopaedicum Munich at the ATOS Private Clinic Munich.
Prof. Strobel heads the Centre for Knee Surgery.


Prof. Strobel has a national and international reputation as an outstanding knee spe-cialist and scientist. His surgical focus lies in arthroscopic surgery of the knee joint, not only in the reconstruction of the anterior, but also of the posterior cruciate liga-ments, and in the therapy of complex injuries, involving a plurality of ligaments. Fur-thermore, Prof. Strobel occupies himself with revision surgery after failed previous operations.

Prof. Strobel has written numerous text books and surgical instructions in arthro-scopic surgery that are seen as standard works and has already been translated in many languages. He is a member of numerous national and international professional associations, such as the German Speaking Association of Arthroscopy (AGA), the European Society of Sports, Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) and so on and the chief editor of the magazine AOTS (Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery) responsible for the field of arthro-scopy and sports medicine. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board in numerous magazines.

Since 2002 Prof. Strobel has lead and organised the course in arthroscopy in Arosa. This course is one of the oldest and the most traditional training courses for learning arthroscopic surgical techniques in Europe.

Prof. Strobel has repeatedly been included into the Doctor`s list "Knee" of the maga-zine FOCUS. It means that he is one of the 63 especially recommended knee special-ists in Germany. Since 1992 he has been a member of the Sporthopaedicum, one of the biggest orthopaedic surgical joint practices in Germany.
