Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Mühlbauer

Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Mühlbauer completed his further education to become a specialist for surgery at the University Clinics in Denver, Colorado, USA, and at the "Rechts de Isar Clinic of the Technical University of Munich. Here he became a specialist for plastic surgery under Prof. Dr. U. Schmidt-Tintemann and qualified as s professor of plastic surgery at the medical faculty of the "Rechts de Isar Clinic of the Technical University of Munich.
From 1984 to 2003 he was the senior physician at the department of plastic and hand surgery with a centre for severe burns at the Clinic Bogenhausen, Munich.
In 2003 he became an associate member of the plastic surgery department at the Ara-bella Clinic Munich, headed by Dr. med. Hans-Leo Nathrath (plastic surgery Ara-bella).
Prof. Mühlbauer is one of the most distinguished plastic surgeons in Germany and Europe having an excellent international reputation. In May 2005 Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Mühlbauer was honoured by the Federal President Horst Köhler with the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon for his outstanding activities.

Since August 2009, Prof. Dr. Mühlbauer has been the head of the Centre for Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at the ATOS Private Clinic Munich.

  • Honorary award of the German Druid Order for special achievements in treat-ment of patients with severe burn injuries (1989)
  • The Dieffenbach Honorary Certificate for special merits in German plastic sur-gery (1992)
  • The Maliniac Lecture (Excellence-Honor-Esteem) of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (2003)
  • Award of the Dieffenbach Medal 2008 form the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons(2008)
