ATOS Hip

The ATOS Center for Hip Surgery is headed by Dr. med. Raimund Völker.

Dr. Völker specializes in hip joint surgery and is one of Germany's most experienced surgeons in the field of hip resurfacing. Moreover, he is one of the few internationally known surgeons, performing the midhead resection. The Birmingham midhead resection is the further development of hip resurfacing surgery, which is conducted in a bone-conserving and careful manner, in comparison with the conventional surgical techniques. As a result, it ensures quicker recovery, natural range of motion and higher reliability of the joint.
Should the bone-preserving surgical procedure be impossible, due to old age, reduced activity or concomitant diseases, the high-quality large diameter implants, combined with the well-proven shafts, can be used. These are distinguished by higher safety, longer durability and better range of motion, if compared to standard implants.

This film was sent by a patient of  Dr. Voelker. The film has been taken at the end of the rehabilitation 4-5 weeks after surgery. The patient is a 61 y old male. Due to advanced osteoarthritis his right hip was operated in october 2009 at the ATOS Clinic Munich.
Dr. Voelker performed the bone conserving hip resurfacing.
The mobility, strength and coordination have been nicely reconstructed.
