Information for our patients
General pre-operative instructions:
Starting a week before the operation you have to refrain from Aspirin (i.e. Acetylsalicyl acid). Other blood thinning medication should be reduced according to the agreement with your GP.
6 hours before the operation, you must not consume any solid food or drink. You will receive detailed information during the preoperative talk with your anesthesiologist the day before the operation.
Whether the treatment is taking place on an in- or outpatient basis is dependent on the medical findings and will be decided together with the surgeon.
Note for diabetics: meltformine-antidiabetics should be cut back before the operation. Please discuss it with your own GP or, at least a week before the operation, contact our internist Dr. Gregor Blome by telephone 0049 (0)89 20 4000 255.
What should you bring?
Comfortable clothing as well as your sanitary articles.
In case of back surgery patients are askes to bring an extra undershirt or a t-shirt, which should be worn under the brace
We kindly ask you to bring all the prescribed medication in its original package together with the package insert.
If any allergic reactions are noted, the treating physician and the anesthesiologist need the list of substances, you are particularly sensitive to, especially antibiotic as well as any other well-known allergic reactions.
