Dr. med. Armin Helmbrecht
Dr. med. Armin Helmbrecht is a specialist for neurosurgery. From 1984 to 1991, he studied human medicine at the University of the Saarland, at the medical department of Homburg / Saar and at the University of Auckland, the School of Medicine at the Thames Hospital in New Zealand. In 1998 Dr. Helmbrecht received his board certification as a specialist for neurology, as well as for subject-specific sonography and radiology. From 1991 to 1993 Dr. Helmbrecht worked at the department for trauma surgery and neurosurgery of the Casualty Hospital in Murnau, before he found his occupation in neurosurgery at the Clinic of Augsburg, from 1993 to 1994. |

From 1996 to 2007 he has been teaching neurosurgery at the Clinic of Augsburg to the students in practical year from the Ludwig-Maximilian University, Munich, and the nursing school of the Clinic of Augsburg.
In 2003 he obtained an MBA (Master of Business Administration) at the University of Applied Sciences in New-Ulm.
From 2007 to 2008 Dr. Helmbrecht worked a as spine specialist at the department led by Dr. Hoogland at the Alpha Clinic in Munich, before he established the APEX Spine Centre together with Dr. Schubert and at the same time became a partner at the Medical Care Centre (MVZ) in Helios in May 2008.
Since September 2008 Dr. Helmbrecht has been occupied in the Spine Centre at the ATOS Private Clinic Munich.

Dr. Armin Helmbrecht is one of the leading spinal surgeons, who apply the highly specialised minimally invasive surgical methods, the primary goal of which is to maintain the function of the mobile segment. In the recent years he has specialised in microscopic minimally invasive open surgical methods using a trocar (sleeve). In this way he has modified, amongst other things, the posterior approach on the cervical spine (for treatment of herniated disc and stenosis) into an access as wide as a finger. Dr. Helmbrecht is a member of such professional associations as the German Association for Spine Surgery (DGW), the German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC) and a member of a working group at the spine department of the German Society for Neurosurgery.
