Dr. Christian Kothny

Dr. Christian Kothny is a specialist for orthopaedics and surgery. Since the time of his specialist training, he has specialised in endoprosthetics of the big joints and has gathered a lot of experience in this field. Until now he has implanted over 8.000 endoprostheses. All the implants are adapted to the given patient, by reason that every patient has individual conditions for a possible endoprosthesis, depending on the de-gree of activity. In order to coordinate these findings in the best possible way and to take an intensive care of his patients, he founded the "MunichOrthoEndoCenter (M.O.E.C.) as a centre for specialised endoprosthetics in 2003.
Dr. Kothny is one of the most experienced specialists in the field of endoprosthetics and a contact point for his colleagues at home and abroad. As a visiting surgeon and instructor, and also by means of the annual surgical courses, Dr. Kothny provides his special knowledge to his interested colleagues. Dr. Kothny is the head of the Interna-tional Reference and Teaching Centre for Special Implants, such as e.g. Oxford Uni Knee, Vanguard knee TEP, hip resurfacing (ReCap, Cormet) and a short-shaft pros-thesis (mini hip replacement).
By participating in numerous national and international events and congresses, he is continually intensifying the exchange of the latest medical knowledge. Dr. Kothny is a co-developer of the Helios revision hip prosthesis and a permanent advisor for new development in different companies.
Since July 2009 Dr. Kothny has been a consulting physician at the ATOS Centre for Knee Prosthetics M.O.E.C.
